What is a Learning Style?

Research suggests that each person has a style of learning that best suits their nature. There are four major classifications of learning styles, including:

  • Visual - those who learn primarily by watching
  • Verbal - those who learn primarily by reading and writing
  • Aural - those who learn primarily by listening and speaking
  • Kinesthetic - those who learn primarily by engaging in an activity

Educators and parents are encouraged to learn the style of their students and children and to adapt their educational activities to the nature of the learner.
