One response to “Should Social Enterprises Get Preferential Treatment?”

  1. Yes – social enterprises should have preferential treatment. It’s not a level playing field out there for all businesses.

Social enterprises employ people that others don’t, to provide services that others don’t, in areas where others won’t go. And why not? Because they (for-profit businesses) can’t make money doing that!

Balancing the ‘triple bottom line’ is harder than running a straight business so, while a social enterprise must ultimately survive as a viable business – based on business sense not sentiment – it deserves a leg-up in the start-up phase.
